In my studies, I am constantly reminded of Paul's words in 2 Timothy 2:15. It is here that Paul instructs "Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth." I firmly believe that as Christians we need to study the Word of God in order to "rightly handle the Word of Truth!" There are many today who do not study the Word, but rather, they only go surface level and begin making claims that are false or at best partially correct. We live in a cultural era where in depth study is traded for the shallow "quick" version. We would rather jump straight into Theology or application rather than beginning by critically looking at the text to determine first what the author meant and only then moving to the present. We must learn from the Bible and its history. An unknown person once said, "those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat history." This blog is purposed to bring you deeper into the Word of God. I pray that this will help you better understand His message and apply it to your daily lives. I hope this will be a tool that truly changes not only my life as I write it but also the lives of those who read it. May God bless you as you study, walking closer with Him as you rightly handle His truth.
The Watertown Church of Christ is an independent church associated with the Churches of Christ, who find their roots in following New Testament Christianity as revealed in the Scriptures. It is our desire to build a strong and vibrant local body of believers who have chosen to be “Christian only” and stand firmly upon the teachings found in the Bible. We have no governance or structure outside the local congregation, and we are an autonomous congregation.
